About me

rHello there, My name is Tracey Martin and I am the Melody Gal.

I started my music career at the age of 4 singing and playing the piano forte, and was taught by Larry Dann (an actor from The Carry on Films).  At the tender age of 14 I performed and won a singing competition at the Southbank Theatre, London, and that’s where it all started!  I always knew that I wanted to be a performer.

I have been Lead Vocals and Guest Vocalist for a succession of Country & Western, Jazz, and Rock n Roll bands.   I especially enjoyed performing with the Jon Bennett Big Band and Glen Miller Tribute Band.

I went on to be a tribute cabaret artist, Tracey-Lee, and I am still a “Patsy Cline, Connie Francis” tribute artist to this day.  I went on to meet the very talented, Jan Whelan and in 2000 we formed the 'Melody Gals' and were performing together for over 12 years.  The Melody Gals performed at many high profile venues and events, and have raised over £5,000 for various charities including Cancer Research and Shooting Star Trust.

I now perform as a Solo Artist and 'The Melody Gal' was born.  I really enjoy performing and taking my audience on a trip down memory lane.

During my musical career I have sung with many well known singers such as Kim Wilde, John from Status Quo, the late Kathleen McCormack, and was even invited to perform for Madonna’s 50th Birthday party and Kim Wilde’s birthday party!

I enjoy learning new lyrics from different artists, and have a repertoire of over 2000 songs. I am a people’s person with a passion for interacting with audiences and I pride myself on my professionalism and vintage look and sound.

Music has been my life since a very young age, there is literally not a minute in the day/night when I am not listening to music, even whilst I sleep!

I love music from all eras, but I do have a passion for the Rockabilly scene.  I have owned a succession of classic cars and attend car shows and vintage events.

As I love anything vintage, I am inspired by the 'golden years', when I believe music was proper music!  I perform themed events through the eras as well as a mixture of genres.  I am also honoured to be the lead vocalist in the Rockabilly Band called The Tarrantulaz.  Please check out the rest of my website for further information and if you want to hear me, please look under my songs on my music genre page or videos of The Tarrantulaz.  Happy Listening!

As they say, keep rocking!

Tracey
